paradoxes-for-breakfast:

reasons why halloween is the best holiday:

  1. you are not obliged to visit your relatives
  2. you are not obliged to get gifts for anyone
  3. people will give you candy for absolutely no reason other than halloween
  4. its the only day when its socially acceptable to go out in public dressed like a penguin

rachellephant:

the most important thing to me ever is bi kids knowing that it’s ok to be 10% attracted to women and 90% attracted to men or 10% attracted to men and 90% attracted to women and still feeling ok to identify as bi, and still feeling like their identity is valid, and still feeling like they can lead fulfilling lives with both (or other) genders. like that’s just so fricking important.

Here’s a test:

I’m holding a baby in one hand and a petri dish holding a fetus in the other.

I’m going to drop one. You chose which.

If you really truly believe a fetus is the same thing as a baby, it should be impossible for you to decide. You should have to flip a coin, that’s how impossible the decision should be.

Shot in the dark, you saved the baby.

Because you’re aware there’s a difference.

Now admit it

woah.

Think of each chapter of your life as a sketchbook page. Clinging onto the past is like reworking into a drawing over and over again when the space on the current page has run out, instead of bravely turning over and starting a new one. It doesn’t make that old drawing any less valid, beautiful or important - it will be there for you to look back on as you keep adding drawings. Being forced to start from scratch is always daunting, but just think about how many pages you’ve subconsciously managed to go through in your lifetime already and how each time you’ll get a little better. You’re just the pen - your newest sketch can be whatever you want it to be. Don’t be scared of the blank page or think your previous drawings now mean nothing because you can’t go back to work on them anymore. Confront your fears and start a new piece. It doesn’t matter if you’re not sure what it should look like just yet. You can figure out as you go, because isn’t that half the fun in the first place? Whether it turns out similar to the last one or entirely different doesn’t matter. You’re still the same person, it’s just that some people change a lot whilst others stay fairly consistent. The important thing is, to keep making sketches. Don’t be afraid to live, because that’s like not drawing altogether.

I don’t deal well with big changes so my dad gave me some serious advice last night because I was scared of starting college/’losing my old self’. Thought I’d share it here for anyone else who might need it. (via andythelemon)
